Getting Around Geneva

Geneva is compact enough to be walkable across its central districts and well-served by an integrated transport network combining the TPG (trams, buses, mouettes — small ferries crossing the lake), the SBB-CFF rail system with frequent connections to Lausanne, Zurich, and Paris, and the Mont-Blanc Express to Chamonix. The Léman Express regional rail integrates the canton with neighbouring France, of practical importance for many residents and frontaliers.

Geneva Airport (GVA) is twelve minutes by train from the central station, making it one of the most accessible major European hubs. Free public transport tickets are provided to hotel guests for the duration of their stay and, more usefully for visitors, every arriving air passenger receives a free 80-minute ticket valid from the airport into the city.

This section covers the airport, train station, public transportation, taxi services, vehicle rental, and boat and navigation on the lake — from CGN cross-lake ferries to private charters.
